Infrastructure and Backup Engineer (L4)

Essential Roles Responsibilities Infrastructure Backup Engineering Design implement and support complex infrastructure solutions across onpremises private cloud and Azure environments Design and operate enterprisegrade backup recovery and data protection solutions ensuring alignment with RPO/RTO requirements Lead planning execution and validation of backup restore and disaster recovery activities Ensure infrastructure and backup services are available performant and operating as designed Senior Technical Leadership Act as senior technical escalation point for infrastructure and backuprelated incidents and changes Lead root cause analysis for major incidents and recovery failures Provide expert guidance and decisionmaking during highrisk changes and outages Mentor junior engineers and support skills development across the team Customer Delivery Engagement Act as a customerfacing technical lead during complex implementations and migrations Support presales activities including solution design validation and technical assurance Provide confident credible technical communication to senior customer stakeholders Ensure customer solutions are delivered to time cost quality and regulatory expectations Service Transition Lifecycle Management Work closely with Project Management and Service Delivery teams to ensure smooth transition into live service Ensure infrastructure and backup services are fully documented tested and operationally ready Support lifecycle activities including upgrades refreshes and decommissioning Participate in oncall rotations and support outofhours activities where required Continuous Improvement Product Development Identify and deliver improvements to infrastructure backup platforms tooling and processes Support product and service development including vendor selection testing and operationalisation Maintain and improve documentation runbooks and knowledge artefacts Financial Services Regulatory Compliance Ensure infrastructure and backup services comply with financial services regulations and frameworks (e.g. FCA PRA DORA ISO 27001 SOC) Design and operate solutions that support operational resilience business continuity and disaster recovery Maintain auditready documentation recovery evidence and control records Support regulatory audits customer assurance activities and risk assessments Ensure data protection encryption access control and segregation requirements are met Governance Reporting Maintain accurate technical documentation diagrams and recovery artefacts Contribute to service reporting risk tracking and improvement actions Support governance forums service reviews and technical design authorities Ensure backup and infrastructure metrics support compliance and assurance needs Teams to Collaborate With Customer Experience Managed Service Project Management Office Cloud Platform Security Teams Portfolio / Product Management Quality Risk Compliance Lead critical infrastructure and backup solutions Work on high-impact mission-critical environments Position Specifications Behavioural Competencies - Organisational Behavioural Fit Senior technical presence with confidence and gravitas Calm methodical and decisive under pressure Strong sense of ownership and accountability Proactive improvementfocused mindset Excellent communicator with technical and nontechnical audiences Willingness to lead from the front and mentor others Critical Competencies - Technical Fit Essential Proven experience as a senior infrastructure engineer supporting missioncritical environments Strong expertise in backup and recovery technologies including enterprise backup platforms and recovery testing Experience designing and supporting infrastructure in private cloud and Azure environments Strong understanding of operational resilience DR and business continuity requirements Experience delivering complex infrastructure solutions for financial services or regulated customers Ability to analyse design implement and support solutions to time cost and quality targets Excellent written and verbal communication skills including customerfacing engagement Relevant technical qualifications or equivalent experience (e.g. infrastructure backup cloud) Fluent written and spoken English is essential. The role requires the ability to produce auditready documentation and communicate confidently with senior and executivelevel stakeholders Desirable Experience within a managed service provider (MSP) or regulated services environment Knowledge of backup platforms such as Veeam Commvault Rubrik or similar Knowledge of Azure IaaS private cloud platforms and hybrid integration Experience with service transition and ITILaligned delivery models Familiarity with PCIDSS and other financial services security standards Advanced technical certifications (e.g. Azure backup vendor infrastructure platforms) A well-established international technology services company specialising in cloud infrastructure and managed services.
