WHAT YOU´LL DO This role will lead the independent Risk & Compliance function while working closely with Product, Technology, Operations and Commercial teams to enable sustainable growth, support innovation and ensure regulatory expectations are met. Success in this role means finding the right balance between protecting the business and helping it move fast . You'll provide independent challenge when needed, but you'll also be a trusted partner who helps teams identify practical solutions, make informed decisions and embed risk management into the way we build products and operate every day. As Head of Risk & Compliance these will be some of the key activities in your day-to-day role: • Lead the Second Line of Defense, maintaining a holistic view of the company's risk profile and ensuring material risks are appropriately identified, assessed, monitored and managed across all business activities. • Define and continuously evolve the company's Risk & Compliance framework, ensuring it remains proportionate, scalable and aligned with the business strategy, regulatory expectations and the company's growth ambitions. • Oversee the identification and assessment of emerging risks, key risk trends and strategic initiatives, providing independent challenge and actionable insights to senior management. • Ensure effective governance through robust risk reporting, meaningful management information, appropriate policies and governance forums, enabling informed decision-making across the organisation. • Build and maintain trusted relationships with regulators, external auditors and key partners, representing the company on Risk & Compliance matters and ensuring constructive regulatory engagement. • Promote a strong risk culture across the organisation, encouraging accountability, transparency and informed risk-taking as an integral part of day-to-day decision making. • Act as a trusted advisor to Product, Technology, Operations and Commercial teams, helping them understand and manage risks early in the design and delivery of products, services and strategic initiatives. • Provide constructive and pragmatic challenge to First Line teams, balancing independent oversight with a solutions-oriented mindset that enables innovation, customer focus and sustainable growth. • Drive continuous improvement of the control environment by promoting automation, data-driven risk management and scalable processes that allow the business to move quickly without compromising resilience or regulatory compliance. WHAT WE´RE LOOKING FOR We are in search of a Head of Risk & Compliance to join our team in Madrid , with the following qualifications and background: Professional Experience • 10+ years' experience in Risk Management, or related control functions within fintech or financial services. Education • Degree level education, with relevant academic qualifications desirable. (Preferred) • Recognised risk professional qualifications / certifications are beneficial but not a must, practical experience will be prioritised. (Preferred) Languages • Professional fluency in Spanish (Requirred) • Professional fluency in English (Requirred) Hard Skills • Deep expertise in Technology Risk, Cybersecurity Risk and Operational Resilience is essential, together with a strong understanding of modern technology architectures, cloud environments, APIs, third-party services and secure software development practices. • Demonstrated experience designing and operating enterprise risk management frameworks and providing independent Second Line oversight over strategic initiatives, technology transformation and operational change. • Experience engaging with Executive Committees, Boards, regulators and external auditors, providing independent advice, influencing strategic decisions and fostering a strong risk culture across the organisation. Soft skills • Strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness. • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments. • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and constant change. • Able to influence without relying on hierarchy. • Strong executive communication skills. • Pragmatic decision maker with sound judgement. • Curious, technology-minded and data-driven.
